About Plymouth Fife & Drum Corps
These kids are so mature; how old are they?
The Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps consists of students, ranging in ages 12 – 18, who gather from Plymouth and surrounding communities year round in preparation for their performance season.
The music is amazing; what all is happening?
Flag and weapon carriers are a part of the guard. They provide the flash and choreography. Fifers play a flute-like 10 hole instrument, conveniently named a “fife.” The drummers play on snare and bass drums. These quick descriptions do not give the proper respect to how cool and historic these sections are. The music features medleys of traditional Revolutionary War tunes rearranged into three and four-part harmonies.
Lock step and looking fantastic; who are you wearing?
The 10 pound, red and white and blue uniform currently worn by the Corps is a replica of George Washington’s personal Life Guard or foot soldiers. Each group learns to march in time with the tunes they play.
